Who Said What?

Posted: January 25, 2011 in The Teacher

After some re-energizing time (Christmas holidays) we are back at work again and have been looking through the responses to the question “What do you look for in a teacher”.

We asked groups of students, parents, teachers and administrators to leave their thoughts on this question and there was a huge range of responses.

A Wordle of the main ideas from each set of comments has been placed below.

Which group of people (students, parents, teachers or administrators) said what?

Dear Administrators,

The recruiting season is just around the corner. This is an exciting and stressful time for all involved.

Over the past few weeks we have been looking into what characteristics students, parents & teachers look for in teachers.

This week we are asking administrators what characteristics they are looking for in teachers when they are interviewing.

Hopefully through these posts we will be able to highlight the areas we value in teachers and this will help to focus discussions during this time of year.

Leave your thoughts in a comment below.

With the recruiting season just kicking off we have been thinking about what makes the ideal teacher.

We have already asked students and parents, but now it is time to hear from the teachers.

So who would you want to work with? What characteristics would you be looking for?

Please leave your thoughts and encourage your colleagues to do so as well.

One of the great things about international schools is the diversity of the community. This is especially true here at NIST.

With the turn of year fast approaching it is the time that many schools start to look ahead and think about the kind of teacher that would best fit into their community.

Last week we asked the students what ideal mix of attributes would be for a teacher.

Now this week we are asking parents what characteristics would make the ideal teacher for their child or children.

Dear Students,

It is coming up to the time of the year when schools begin to think about hiring teachers for the next school year.

We are really interested to hear what you would look for in a teacher.

  • What are the ingredients which make the ideal teacher?

Think beyond the simple and describe a teacher who would inspire you! (no names please)
